How to clean suede / nubuck shoes

Keep suede dry and brush it back to life — protect it well and water becomes a lot less scary.

Handle with care

Keep suede dry and brush it back to life — protect it well and water becomes a lot less scary.

The routine

  1. 1

Let any mud dry, then brush

A suede brush lifts dirt and revives the nap.

  2. 2

    Erase scuffs and marks

A suede eraser (or a clean pencil eraser) works them out.

  3. 3

    Shampoo only if needed

Suede shampoo with the brush — damp, never soaked — then dry and re-brush.

  4. 4

    Re-apply protector spray

Once fully dry, to fend off water and stains.

Use

  • Suede brush

  • Suede shampoo
  • Protector spray
